Hey! I’m Henny, a UK-born, Melbourne-based photographer. My ever-growing love for photography was sparked early in my childhood through photo expeditions with my photographer-fanatic father. Since then, photography has become my muse and my lifelong passion. I’m particularly interested in how we experience place through the senses, how the interplay of light, colour, and memory shapes our connection to the natural world.
I’ve always felt very drawn to the ocean. But it wasn’t until I lived beside the sea in Tathra earlier this year, on Australia’s east coast, that this connection created a new meaning. There, I discovered rich hues, shifting light, and a profound sense of release, both in myself and in the people I observed. Quiet rituals by the shore inspired my images that explore this shared connection to the sea. Through film photography, I slow down the creative process to intentionally observe and preserve moments. I paint a picture of the beauty found in the stillness and movement between us and the ocean.
